  • MANN SERVES AS ASU LAW PROFESSOR (September 2011). Jay Mann is serving as an adjunct professor at ASU's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law for the 2011-2012 academic year, lecturing on direct examination and cross examination of expert witnesses. He also critiqued students in the Trial Practice Program.

  • MBW SPONSORS GRAND CANYON HIKES (March 2011). Mann, Berens & Wisner is sponsoring two Grand Canyon hikes in April 2011 for employees, clients and friends. Each hike will begin at the South Rim, then down the South Kaibab trail to Phantom Ranch for two nights, and then return up the Bright Angel Trail to the South Rim. Total hiking distance is about 18 miles, and the elevation change is about one mile. Good luck to the hikers!

  • MANAGING PARTNER HONORED (February 2011). Jay Mann was recently selected for inclusion in Arizona’s Finest Lawyers, which recognizes the top 6% of the state's attorneys and judges. Mr. Mann has been twice selected for both Super Lawyers® and The Best Lawyers in America® and has been recognized by Martindale Hubbell as an AV® lawyer since 1990.

  • MBW CLIMBS TO FIGHT CANCER (February 2011). Team MBW, consisting of firm attorneys, employees and family members, was formed in 2010 to support the life-saving efforts of the American Cancer Society. For the second year in a row, Team MBW participated in the American Cancer Society’s yearly event in Phoenix, "The Climb to Conquer Cancer," and collectively raised and donated $2,000 for the cause. Held every February at South Mountain Park, the Climb to Conquer Cancer begins on a paved road at the base of South Mountain, tracks a 5.6-mile narrow, windy and curvy stretch of road, leading to Dobbins Point at the top of the mountain. MBW and its employees are committed to supporting the American Cancer Society's efforts to save lives and find a cure to this terrible disease. This yearly event has quickly become an MBW tradition and will continue to be one until cancer is gone from our lives and the lives of our loved ones.

  • $2.7 MILLION AWARD IN NEVADA CONSTRUCTION DISPUTE (September 2010). Mann, Berens & Wisner successfully handled a binding JAMS arbitration over a construction dispute in Las Vegas, Nevada on behalf of one of its surety clients. After a three-week arbitration hearing, the three-arbitrator panel (which included the former Chief Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court) issued an interim award in excess of $2.7 million in favor of the contractor and surety and against the real estate developer/owner of the subject project. Interest, attorneys' fees and costs are still to be decided and will be included in the final award. As the surety's losses were less than $2 million, a full recovery for our client is expected. | See Interim Award

  • A BIG WIN IN NEW MEXICO ARBITRATION (June 2010). Mann, Berens & Wisner represented a surety in a New Mexico arbitration in which a real estate developer sued a contractor and its surety in connection with a downtown Santa Fe hotel project. The developer sought over $2 million plus bad faith damages against the surety. Following a two-week hearing, the Arbitrator ruled against the developer on all claims, and awarded $564,000 to the contractor upon its counterclaim. The Arbitrator also held the developer liable for attorneys’ fees and costs incurred by both contractor and surety. | See Arbitration Award
